Common Core Standards |
What are the Common Core State Standards? The Common Core State Standards Initiative is a state-led effort coordinated by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices and the Council of Chief State School Officers. The standards were developed in collaboration with teachers, school administrators, and experts, to provide a clear and consistent framework to prepare our children for college and the workforce. In order to learn more about the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), please see http://corestandards.org/ Our teachers will be implementing CCSS next year at Saluda Middle School. The Parents’ Guide to Student Success (available in English and Spanish) was developed in response to the Common Core State Standards in English language arts and mathematics. Please visit the web site below in order to find parent resources for the CCSS for each grade level and subject area. http://www.pta.org/4446.htm The Guide includes: -Key items that children should be learning in English language arts and mathematics in each grade, once the standards are fully implemented. -Activities that parents can do at home to support their child's learning. -Methods for helping parents build stronger relationships with their child's teacher. -Tips for planning for college and career (high school only). |
