Hello from Abbey Duggins

This is my eleventh year working with the students and teachers of Saluda County School District. In addition to teaching English language arts, I have served the Saluda Educational Complex as literacy coach at SMS and instructional coach at SHS. In 2011 I became the Assistant Principal for Instruction at SHS and am honored to continue in that role for the 2012-2013 school year.

I completed my undergraduate work at Bowling Green State University, receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in secondary education, English. In August 2007, I completed my Master’s Degree in Language and Literacy at the University of South Carolina. In August 2010, I earned a second Master's Degree in Educational Administration from USC. I am currently a doctoral student in Language and Literacy at USC. I have completed all of my coursework and plan to begin writing my dissertation this year.

I spent two weeks this summer taking courses at Beijing's Language and Culture University in Beijing, China and am so grateful for my educational experiences there. I definitely love school and am energized by learning, reading, and interacting with students and colleagues. I am a passionate educator who is determined to guide each student I work with to become a life-long reader, writer, and learner.
